Effloow Weekly #4: 126 Articles, Evidence-Led Tracks Fully Adopted, Cross-Post Backlog at 71

May 4, 2026 — Weekly Issue #4

Seven days since Weekly #3. Twenty-five articles shipped, every one carrying a content_track value. The catalog stands at 126 published articles. The distribution gap widened again.

Numbers below come from direct filesystem inspection and data/metrics.json. Traffic values reflect the most recent metrics:sync run.

Content Pipeline

Articles Published This Week (Apr 28–May 4)

25 articles shipped across all three evidence-led tracks. Unlike Week #3, where 18 of 19 articles carried no content_track metadata, every article this week is tagged.

Track breakdown:

Track Count Share
tool-scout 10 40%
paper-poc 8 32%
sandbox-poc 7 28%

All three tracks fired every day. Apr 30 was the highest-volume day with 6 articles across all three tracks.

Evidence-Led Track Adoption

This is the clearest operational improvement of Week #4. Week #3 had 18 of 19 articles with content_track: unknown. Week #4 has 0 of 25 with unknown track. The automation now writes metadata correctly.

The next verification step is checking that data/lab-runs/ contains matching evidence notes for sandbox-poc and paper-poc articles. Lab-run coverage was not audited this cycle.

Hero Images

143 hero images exist at public/images/articles/{slug}/hero.png against 126 published articles. Coverage is 100% with 17 extra images, likely generated for queued topics before publication.

QA Status

11 entries in data/qa-log.json, all with status: passed. The historical 97-review count is not present in the current file. This is a data integrity issue that needs investigation — either the log was rebuilt from a subset, or reviews were pruned during a pipeline migration.

No failed or pending QA entries in the current file.

Tools

One new tool shipped this week (total now 13). The tool catalog expanded, continuing the target of one tool per week.

Distribution Gap

Cross-posting remains the largest operational gap, and it widened.

The site has 126 published articles and 55 cross-post artifacts per platform. That means 71 articles lack a dev.to artifact and 71 lack a Hashnode artifact — up from 45 last week.

All 25 current-week articles are missing both platforms. The backlog grew by 26 (one per new article) because no cross-posting ran during the week.

Metrics and Traffic

php artisan metrics:sync was run at report time. Current values from data/metrics.json:

Metric Value Note
Visitors today 12 From metrics.json
Visitors this week 403 From metrics.json
Visitors this month 1,423 From metrics.json
Lighthouse score 68 Down 8 from last week
Average load 5,023ms Up 760ms from last week
Signups this week 0 No conversion events
Revenue $0 Pre-revenue stage

Performance metrics moved in the wrong direction this week. Lighthouse dropped from 76 to 68 and average load increased from 4,263ms to 5,023ms. With 126 articles now live, this may reflect unoptimized image loading or increased DOM size. Worth investigating before the catalog grows further.

Backlog and Planning

Topic backlog: 101 entries (78 published, 23 queued). Up from 72 entries last week (51 published, 21 queued).

At a three-article-per-day cadence, 23 queued topics represent about eight days of writing capacity. The pipeline should stay ahead.

126 published article files exist, but only 78 backlog entries are marked published — so 48 published articles are not reflected in the backlog state. This reconciliation gap exists for the third straight week.

Key Achievements

Evidence-led track metadata is now 100%. Every article in the Apr 28–May 4 window carries content_track. This closes the biggest strategic accountability gap from Week #3.

25 articles shipped in seven days. That is the strongest output week so far and averages 3.6 articles/day across all seven days.

100% hero image coverage maintained. No articles are missing hero images.

Tool catalog at 13. One new tool shipped, keeping the weekly cadence.

Weekly traffic at 403 visitors. Up from the [DATA NOT AVAILABLE] state last week, with a baseline now visible in data/metrics.json.

Next Week Priorities

  1. Start draining the 71-article cross-post backlog. The gap is now large enough that it needs a dedicated batch run — not just keeping pace with new articles. Target: cross-post at minimum the 25 current-week articles.
  2. Audit lab-run evidence coverage. All sandbox-poc and paper-poc articles should have a matching data/lab-runs/{slug}.md. This was not verified this cycle.
  3. Investigate QA log state. The drop from 97 to 11 entries needs explanation. Either reconstruct the log from past runs or document why it was reset.
  4. Address performance regression. Lighthouse at 68 and 5,023ms load are moving away from target, not toward it. Check image optimization and page weight as the catalog scales.
  5. Reconcile topic backlog. 48 published articles are outside the backlog's published state. Run a sync or accept the count as a known gap.
  6. Continue one tool per week. Queue and ship week #5 tool before Wednesday.

Operational Notes

The content factory has fully adopted evidence-led track metadata — that is a durable improvement. The distribution pipeline has not moved. At the current rate, the cross-post backlog will continue to grow unless a dedicated catch-up run happens.

Performance is the new concern. 5,023ms average load and a Lighthouse score of 68 suggest that catalog growth is starting to affect page weight. This is worth addressing before it affects SEO rankings.

Revenue remains $0. Eight affiliate programs are listed as pending approval in the metrics file.
